THE DESIGN PROCESS

STAGE 1 - INITIAL ONSITE CONSULT
You’ve made the decision to start your outdoor project ! Our initial 1hr consult is there to meet you and discuss your vision for the project. For new builds, the process involves looking over the proposed build plans and determining an off plan brief, determination of scopes, styles and function. For renovations and new additions, we meet at the site and discuss the project while inspecting the site opportunities and limitations in relation to your ideas and vision. After the consult- a design fee proposal will be presented, tailored to the requirements determined at the consult.
Projects are undertaken from design to construct under New Grade Landscapes, However, design services are carried out through a separate design only entity, LV Exteriors.

Site measures or surveys
STAGE 2 - SURVEY AND PROJECT MAPPING
Executing a seamless build all starts with accurate site surveying and mapping. We arrange all feature surveys by licensed surveyors and carry out 3D mapping of the site prior to starting the design process. This way, we are designing accurately and realistically with all site conditions known and considered. For more straight forward projects, the site mapping can be a simple document set up from your existing building plans or a quick site measure.
STAGE 3 - PRE-DESIGN MEETING AND FUNCTIONAL BRIEFING
The pre-design start meeting is all about discussing the project brief in detail. This meeting allows us to hone in on the functional requirements of the brief as well as determining some initial style preferences you may have. Your exterior space can look a million dollars but if it doesn’t function properly or suit your way of life, it can be a long term disaster. This is why we take the time to determine how you want to use your space and how the functionality of the space will work before we commence the layout stages. We ask questions which range from your lifestyle requirements, aesthetic preferences, gardening and maintenance capacity, through to how you will park your car or take the bins out.
STAGE 4 - CONCEPT DESIGN & DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
We conceptualise your vision with a general layout plan and 3D graphics package. We work with you collaboratively, offering our professional design skills and experience to develop your ideas and style into a beautiful and functional outdoor space. The concept package provides a cost effective level of design for clients to see the proposal in informative 2D and realistic 3D detail while allowing flexibility and control to trial different options, layouts and finishes.
Our valuable service of Design to Delivery allows us to present design options with both construction and project costing information simultaneously, so our clients can make informed decisions from the outset. Deliverables from the concept stage is a spatial 3D model of the proposal, Key detailed 3D graphic renders, a detailed to scale General layout plan that includes key set out information, built form detail, planting selections and material schedules.
While the concept package is in some cases sufficient for costing and construction of small projects, complex built forms, structures, swimming pools and more will require a tailored level of documentation as a second stage of design .
STAGE 5 - DETAIL DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTATION
From concept to construction, everything you need to take your outdoor design concept and and make it a built reality. Tailored documentation for construction / submission purposes will be generated for your specific project needs. These include: Detailed layout plans, built-form elevations and sectional details, Set-out plans, material schedules, Services plans, Planting plans, Lighting plans and more.
Our detail design packages are tailored to develop the drawing sets and graphic representations for your projects specific requirements. From complex fabrication, outdoor structures and extensions, swimming pools and more, your detailed design package will have everything required for certification, engineering, council submissions, costing and construction.
